How many of you think about why NATO bombed Serbia in 1999?

Or, better yet, think about what would have happened if NATO did not intervene against Serbia to stop the terrible war in Kosovo?

Today, I wouldn’t be even telling you that.

All diplomatic attempts failed, because Slobodan Milosevic and Serbia had other plans. He intended to destroy the people of Kosovo and make this “fait accompli” (accomplished fact).

People of Kosovo were determined for freedom. The war that would come later was not the choice of the people of Kosovo. Kosovo men and women formed the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA).

The democratic world could not just wait and see how one Serbian leader had decided to fight against all. Slobodan Milosevic was named also as the Balkans Butcher.

Simply and clearly, NATO’s intervention was more than necessary. It was salvation.

A new life began.
